During the initial consultation, we will discuss your chief complaints, health-related concerns, and the goals you would like achieve from treatment. Upon determining whether treatment is appropriate, an initial evaluation will be conducted. During this initial evaluation, we will gather information regarding current and previous medical history as well as perform a comprehensive physical examination. The physical examination will include vital signs check (Blood Pressure & Heart Rate), neuro-screen, SFMA (determining global movement pattern deficits), palpation (use of hands to identify structures), and orthopedic testing (reproduces pain to help with diagnosis). If it is determined that any special testing such as an X-ray/MRI is needed or you require the attention of another health care provider based on our evaluation, you will be referred.
Once all the information is gathered from your initial evaluation, we will discuss the findings and treatment plan. This is a very crucial step. Both the patient’s needs and goals and doctor’s recommendations should be in sync with one another. We want to make sure the patient understands exactly what the treatment is and why we’re doing it. With this cooperative treatment model, a well-informed, motivated patient can achieve their goals. Treatments vary and will consist of some combination of all of the following: soft tissue work, chiropractic adjusting, exercises, and patient health education.
